Rain, Wind, Tears

It has been quite stormy lately. We have had lots of rain and last night, tremendous winds. Both of my bird feeder shepards crooks were blown down and trapped under our glass topped table (with sun umbrella still in it), which had a deck chair tangled in legs of it.... all balanced on top of my birdbath. Somehow nothing was broken, but the umbrella did wind up with a rather large bend in it.

Our dear friend D, who is in hospice care, is slipping away. We last saw him on Tuesday. He was able to recognize us and talk with us for a little while but was no longer able to sit up and faded in and out of conversation. We have been unable to visit with him since then due to his deteriorating condition. His wife J has been keeping us updated. Since Thursday he has been very agitated and has had to be sedated. As of today he is mostly non-responsive. It is really tough to find words to describe how hard it is to loose him. The best we can do is cleave to each other and practice resiliency as best as we can.

We are looking forward to Thanksgiving and visiting with family. Admittedly I have been more than a little distracted, but I think we have things at least somewhat under control. We do have a turkey...so that is good. I will work on getting back into the habit of posting more regularly. I do miss it.

Un- Day

Last night was the final night of the PBR world finals and Don and I were able to watch it together. I was happy because my cowboy (Kody Lostroh) won the world finals title and Don was happy because his cowboy (JB Mauney) won the event title. I went to bed early since I was feeling so crap and was trying to be positive about a new day. Instead I have been very Un- today. Uncomfortable, unmotivated, unhappy, unappreciated. Blargh. I thought for sure I would wake up today feeling so much better, more like a human being, Unfortunately I did not. In fact I felt just about the same, perhaps a little worse. Crampy, cranky and sore in the throat. This morning at work was unbelievable, with several people walking in and basically demanding to be seen right then, not understanding that we were already booked and that they would have to wait. Sometimes it feels like people see the receptionist as the dump all and they are really nasty to me up front, only to then be sweet as can be to the Dr in the room. Argh. This is why I really really miss working in the back.

Tonight after work I stopped by the grocery for a few things then came home and made chicken noodle soup (by scratch), cleaned the cat box, then cleaned the kitchen. I am feeling more than ready for bed, have made myself some tea and will be in bed shortly.

Ages and Ages

It has been a very long time since I have posted. Work and life continue. It is rapidly turning to winter here and the rains have started. We had a really huge storm yesterday with lightening and thunder and heavy heavy rain. I was at work, so I didn't get to fully enjoy it. This has been a rather sucky weekend for me. I am not feeling well and am heavily under the influence of hormones and cramps. Yesterday while I was working Don was out shoping and didn't get home until late in the afternoon. Then we went over to our friends A and G's house. It was good to see them again, since it had been a while, but I was not at my best so it was not as good as it could have been. Plus right before we left our house Don noticed that his truck had gotten keyed while he was out. He was very unhappy, to say the least. A and G are doing great and are getting more excited each day as their due date gets closer. They have the baby room pretty much all ready. It was good to visit with them. Today I slept in the morning, then got up and started laundry. I made a quick run out for bird seed between the rain showers and got all my feeders back up and stocked for my wild bird friends. Don just left for more shoping and I am staying at home. I just didn't feel up to shoping today. Basically I feel like crawling back into bed and staying there all day and not doing anything...Maybe I will.

Returns

Today was the first day my boss was back in the office after serving overseas in the Army reserves. It was a bit stressful, but overall a decent enough day. I am feeling pretty worn out today despite having a very relaxed weekend. Don was gone during the day both days for a CE course, so I spent the days being domestic at my own pace and hanging out. I made supper, pie, brownies, cleaned the house, did laundry. It was very nice. Tonight I have a headache and just feel like I want it to be Friday again so I can have another weekend. Instead I have another work day tomorrow. Harumph.

Update

So far so good with jury duty... I have not had to serve except for the orientation day and so far there have not been any jury cases. The call in info today said no cases this week or next and my next call in is not until the 26th. I am still feeling pretty stressy and a little bit like a cold is coming on, but I have been going to bed early and working on staying hydrated and eating well. There is really not a lot new going on...just more of the usual.

Welling with Civic Pride

...or not. I went to my juror orientation thing this morning. It ended up being only about 1 1/2 hours because there were no jury cases today and I was not selected for grand jury. I was glad because I am feeling pretty worn out and really was needed a day off this week. Our courthouse is under construction/remodel so they are down two courtrooms and are running fewer cases at present. So I will have to call an 800 # every Mon, Tues and Wed after 5pm for the next month to know if I will have to serve the next day. There is a fairly large jury pool this time around, so I may not even end up having to go in. I will just have to go with the flow and see what happens...this is difficult for me, the not being able to plan...but I am working on it. I went to the grocery after jury duty and then came home and had an early-ish lunch and had a little nap. I did laundry last night since I was not sure how long the jury thing would last today.
I have work tomorrow and Friday and also this weekend. Don and his friend G may be going up to see another one of his buddies this weekend and A and I may try to get together for lunch or something. Other than that there is really not a whole lot going on. Tonight I am making an oven roasted chicken with green beans and roasted potatoes and biscuits for supper. I hope it all turns out good. The weather has really turned to fall, it has gotten quite cold over night and in the early mornings. It is forecast to be a wonderful sunny fall weekend and it sounds like it may be a good time to do some geocaching. We will see what the weekend brings.

Keeping On

Life goes on for us. Work has been a little more stressful than normal for me recently. We are in the final stretch before my boss gets back. I think that will make things both more and less stressful. I have not been sleeping well lately and I know that is a contributing factor to the stress issue. I am hoping we can do something this weekend, like go to the coast. Just something to be together with my husband and have a mini vacation I guess. I don't really have much else to share right now.
