Lots of noise was the theme for today. We had barky day boarders, barky patients, barky people. It was just loud today. Things did go smoothly and we all got off on time, which is always good.
The weather has gotten a little nicer...at least it is not raining. It is clear and very cold. The wind has been blowing quite a bit here too. It makes it seem more like winter, which is good I suppose since it is December now.
We have already eaten our way through quite a few of our holiday leftovers. The pies went very quickly, and since we have company coming Thursday evening it has been requested that I make more. I think it is a good thing I have a half day off tomorrow and then Thursday also. We do still have some turkey leftovers not already in the freezer, but after turkey lunches and suppers for the past few days I think I am ready for something else tonight. I am not sure what...but something.
I suppose I should go and get that figured out. Especially if I want to eat in the not too distant future.

How Long Was Your Day?
Today was a long rough day. I was feeling very overwhelmed being back at work after being off for the holiday and weekend. And we were really really busy. We had regular appointments, emergencies, walk-ins, unscheduled surgeries, I got chastised for a silly error (and ended up crying)...it was long. Once I got done at work (1/2 hour late) and started to head home, I remembered I needed to get gas. I pulled into the closest gas station and the attendant came over, looked at the car, looked at me and said, "Did you need gas?"... There was a few second pause as I digested that (of course I need gas, I am at the gas station, right???) and then....."I'm on the wrong side aren't I" I said. *head shake* How long have I been driving this car? Sheesh. I will be off to bed shortly. It is a good thing tomorrow is a new day...I don't want this one again.

Giving Thanks
Our dear friend Don Krebs passed away Tuesday the 24th. It has been very difficult working through all the emotions of loss and guilt and sadness. I am working on focusing on the good things and feeling thankful for being able to have met him and had him in my life. He loved good wine, gardening, bird watching and Raiders football. We had many good visits, just sitting and sipping wine, chatting and enjoying each others company. Don and I were blessed to have Don and his wife Joanne share our wedding day with us. He was a wonderful man and he is deeply and truly missed.
The Thanksgiving holiday has come and gone. It was bitter sweet this year. It was wonderful to spend time with my parents and an uncle who lives in Seattle. It was good to have the extra love and support after the loss of our friend.
Yesterday we went over to see Joanne. Like she had said, the first time would be the hardest..."so lets get it over with." We brought her two mini pies we made. We hugged and cried and sat together. It was good to see her and I feel a little more peaceful now.
Today is a low key day, no plans really or tasks that must be completed. Don went out for a bike ride a little bit ago and I am working on laundry. We are both exhausted and needing the down time before the work week starts again tomorrow. I think a nap may be in both our futures this afternoon.

Focus
Today was a bit of a long day. We had a nice steady morning and then a huge gap with nothing until the end of the day. It always makes it hard when the middle of the day is crawling by and then at the end it is slammed. I was really having a hard time being fully focused on work today and by the time it was the end of the day had a tremendous headache. I made it home feeling less than human. Don was already home and had started some chicken on the grill for supper. I took Motrin, cleaned the kitty box (preparing for company this week), and begged for a back rub while supper was finishing. Supper was simple, but good. Even better since I didn't have to think about it. After super I cleaned up the few dishes and got in the shower. I am feeling much better now, my headache is more manageable and I think I will be ready for bed before too much longer. Tomorrow is another day of work and errands after to collect the last few items for our Thanksgiving day feast.

Rain, Wind, Tears
It has been quite stormy lately. We have had lots of rain and last night, tremendous winds. Both of my bird feeder shepards crooks were blown down and trapped under our glass topped table (with sun umbrella still in it), which had a deck chair tangled in legs of it.... all balanced on top of my birdbath. Somehow nothing was broken, but the umbrella did wind up with a rather large bend in it.
Our dear friend D, who is in hospice care, is slipping away. We last saw him on Tuesday. He was able to recognize us and talk with us for a little while but was no longer able to sit up and faded in and out of conversation. We have been unable to visit with him since then due to his deteriorating condition. His wife J has been keeping us updated. Since Thursday he has been very agitated and has had to be sedated. As of today he is mostly non-responsive. It is really tough to find words to describe how hard it is to loose him. The best we can do is cleave to each other and practice resiliency as best as we can.
We are looking forward to Thanksgiving and visiting with family. Admittedly I have been more than a little distracted, but I think we have things at least somewhat under control. We do have a turkey...so that is good. I will work on getting back into the habit of posting more regularly. I do miss it.

Un- Day
Last night was the final night of the PBR world finals and Don and I were able to watch it together. I was happy because my cowboy (Kody Lostroh) won the world finals title and Don was happy because his cowboy (JB Mauney) won the event title. I went to bed early since I was feeling so crap and was trying to be positive about a new day. Instead I have been very Un- today. Uncomfortable, unmotivated, unhappy, unappreciated. Blargh. I thought for sure I would wake up today feeling so much better, more like a human being, Unfortunately I did not. In fact I felt just about the same, perhaps a little worse. Crampy, cranky and sore in the throat. This morning at work was unbelievable, with several people walking in and basically demanding to be seen right then, not understanding that we were already booked and that they would have to wait. Sometimes it feels like people see the receptionist as the dump all and they are really nasty to me up front, only to then be sweet as can be to the Dr in the room. Argh. This is why I really really miss working in the back.
Tonight after work I stopped by the grocery for a few things then came home and made chicken noodle soup (by scratch), cleaned the cat box, then cleaned the kitchen. I am feeling more than ready for bed, have made myself some tea and will be in bed shortly.

Ages and Ages
It has been a very long time since I have posted. Work and life continue. It is rapidly turning to winter here and the rains have started. We had a really huge storm yesterday with lightening and thunder and heavy heavy rain. I was at work, so I didn't get to fully enjoy it. This has been a rather sucky weekend for me. I am not feeling well and am heavily under the influence of hormones and cramps. Yesterday while I was working Don was out shoping and didn't get home until late in the afternoon. Then we went over to our friends A and G's house. It was good to see them again, since it had been a while, but I was not at my best so it was not as good as it could have been. Plus right before we left our house Don noticed that his truck had gotten keyed while he was out. He was very unhappy, to say the least. A and G are doing great and are getting more excited each day as their due date gets closer. They have the baby room pretty much all ready. It was good to visit with them. Today I slept in the morning, then got up and started laundry. I made a quick run out for bird seed between the rain showers and got all my feeders back up and stocked for my wild bird friends. Don just left for more shoping and I am staying at home. I just didn't feel up to shoping today. Basically I feel like crawling back into bed and staying there all day and not doing anything...Maybe I will.
