Wounded/Illness Update

Don ended up back at the urgent care today (last night they gave him a cortisone injection, told him to take benadryl and told him if it was not better to come back in the am) as the swelling was not "markedly improved" and has to go on oral steroids. His face is still way swollen and is starting to get sort of red now too. His eyelashes tickle him because his eyelids are swollen so he keeps rubbing them and his eyes are starting to bruise too, adding to the pugilistic look. Blargh. Plus he is supposed to take loratadine and benadryl alternating every 12 hours...they both make him drowsy so he is not very excited about that. I am all for having the swelling go down and him being able to breathe, so I think drowsiness is a small price to pay...
Rye is much better today. Back to his regular constantly starving self. He was doing all his normal kitty things this afternoon and that is a big relief.
In other sucky news our friend D (of D and J) is in the hospital again. Apparently he had another small amount of bleeding, vomited and passed out. Once at the hospital they tried to put in a pace maker and were unable to (due to scar tissue, it sounded like). He is currently still in hospital, but J has contacted hospice so it sounds really not good. It has been a rough year for them and while I know D has been ill for a long time (diabetes, heart failure, plain old age) it is still a bit of a shock and pretty upsetting. All we can do is be here and help out as they need us.
In the mean time...I would settle for less swelling.

Poor Don. Hope that the swelling is starting to resolve and that he is feeling much better soon. Perhaps he needs to think about bee repellant
